Things
Have Changed! 15
Hour Mandatory Code Courses Aren’t 15 Hours Anymore Recently, the Massachusetts State Board of Examiners of Electricians significantly increased the minimum time requirement for the Mandatory Continuing Education Course, which is required by the Board for License renewal. The change takes effect immediately, and will have a considerable impact on the way our JATC delivers these courses to our members. For example:
Regrettably, the JATC will no longer be able to conduct license renewal classes with the same flexibility and accommodation you have come to expect over the years. The 150% expansion of the license renewal program, mandated by the State Board, will strain our delivery capability. Most notably, staff availability, curriculum constraints, and space restrictions, will require a more structured approach to the administration of this program if we are to effectively service the educational needs of all of our members by the July 31, 2004 deadline. One thing will not change, however. The quality of the JATC Mandatory Continuing Education Program will remain outstanding, with top instructors, materials and facilities. The 2001/2004 program will combine our traditional NEC/Mass Code review with a comprehensive Occupational Health & Safety module. We will not only work smarter, but safer.
