“The apprentice program not only teaches you technical skills, but also skills you use on an everyday basis. You work with young and older people who are willing to take the time and give you advice on skills they’ve learned first hand. That alone is invaluable.”

—Greater Boston JATC Apprentice

“I never thought I would like the program. And I’m shocked to say I love it. I never thought I would have the support or the friendships that I do today. It was the best move I’ve made in my life.”

—Greater Boston JATC Apprentice

“The apprenticeship program at IBEW Local 103 is the best possible place to learn this trade. The instructors teach from both books and experience and the different shop classes give added skills for the apprentice to bring to the job.”

Picture yourself in the Greater Boston JATC Apprenticeship Training Program, a training program that is renowned for producing the most highly skilled craftspeople in the industry. You would receive intensive classroom instruction from expertly qualified instructors, and on-the-job training with experienced journeypersons. You would train in one of the best training facilities in the country, and benefit from its state-of-the-art equipment, computers, and top-notch, high-tech laboratories. You would be provided with the resources to become a member of the most in-demand team of electricians and technicians in the industry — NECA/IBEW electricians and technicians.

The Greater Boston JATC offers a five-year Electrical Construction Program and a four-year Telecommunications Program, giving you a choice of the advanced technologies in which you would like to gain expertise. In both programs, you would:

Work on actual job sites with journeyperson electricians and technicians who show you how to apply the skills you learned from your classes.
Learn to build, fix, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical and telecommunications systems, individually and as part of a team.
Obtain the right skills and training to succeed in the world of advanced technology.
Earn increased responsibilities, pay, and respect as you acquire new skills.

Even if you have no electrical knowledge now, you’ll gain the skills and knowledge to become a qualified journeyperson deserving of the highest wages possible. When you complete either of the JATC programs, you’ll be recognized as one of the best in your field, having met higher standards of safety and quality than required by the state of Massachusetts. Through the Greater Boston JATC’s Continuing Education Program, you can continue to upgrade your skills and knowledge as technologies and codes change.
